Yun Dong-ju was a Korean poet known for his critical and lyrical poetry, born on December 30, 1917, in a Korean refugee family in Jilin, China. He studied at Myengdong School, Pyongyang Songsil High School, and graduated from Yeonhee College in Seoul. During his second year at Yeonhee, he published poems in a boys' magazine. In 1942, he enrolled at Doshisha University in Kyoto but was arrested by Japanese police in 1943 for alleged anti-Japanese activities. He died in prison at the age of 27, having written over 100 poems.
