Yuri Fedorovich Fominykh was a Soviet and Russian draughts expert, mathematician, and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences. He was a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and served as the editor of the newspaper 'Perm University'. Additionally, he led the draughts section of the paper 'Evening Perm' and published nearly a thousand issues over 30 years. Fominykh was a judge of all-Union category and a member of the Presidium of the Draughts Federation of the RSFSR.
