Yuri Zarhin is a Russian mathematician born on March 13, 1951, who specializes in algebraic geometry and number theory. He studied at Lomonosov University from 1968, earning a doctorate in 1975 under Yuri Manin and later habilitating in 1986 at Leningrad University. Zarhin worked at Lomonosov University until 1983 and at the Russian Academy of Sciences from 1975 to 1986. Since the 1990s, he has been a professor at Pennsylvania State University. His research interests include abelian varieties, K3 surfaces, l-adic representations, and Lie algebras.
