Yurii Aleksieiev is a Ukrainian engineer born on December 6, 1948, in Dnipropetrovsk. He studied at Dnipropetrovsk State University, obtaining a degree in aircraft engines in 1972. He began his career at the Southern Machine-Building Plant (Pivdenmas) and held several key positions there, including Deputy Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer. From 1992 to 2005, he served as the director of Pivdenmas and then headed the Ukrainian National Space Agency from 2005 until his dismissal in 2014 under a lustration law during Viktor Yanukovych's presidency.
