Yurii Prokopovych Spizhenko was a prominent Ukrainian oncologist and Doctor of Medical Sciences born on June 6, 1950, and passed away on December 6, 2010. He served as the Minister of Health of the Ukrainian SSR and the first Minister of Health of Ukraine from 1989 to 1994. Spizhenko was a People's Deputy of Ukraine, presiding over two convocations, and held the position of president of the Pharmaceutical Association of Ukraine since April 1998. Additionally, he was the head of the Zhytomyr regional organization of the Ukrainian National Party in 1999 and president of the Cyber Clinic Oncology and Radiosurgery Center.
