Yuriy Timofeyevich Chesnokov was a Soviet military leader, born on May 3, 1928, in Orenburg, RSFSR, and died on June 22, 2004, in Moscow, Russia. He served as the Chief of the Air Defense Forces of the Ground Forces of the USSR from 1981 until 1991. In 1982, he was promoted to the rank of Colonel General of Artillery. Chesnokov played a significant role in the military during the late Soviet period, particularly in air defense operations.
