Yuriy Yuriyovych Shovkoplyas (1903-1978) was a Ukrainian writer and prose author. He was a member of the Prolitfront literary group during the 1920s and served as a correspondent for the Literary Gazette in both Moscow and Kyiv. Shovkoplyas was the head of the Journalism Department at Kharkiv University from 1949 to 1951 and led the Kharkiv organization of the Ukrainian Writers' Union from 1953 to 1956. Additionally, he was the chief editor of the Kharkiv magazine 'Prapor' from 1956 to 1960.
