Yury Grigorievich Rychkov was a Soviet and Russian anthropologist and geneticist born on April 28, 1932, in Moscow, and he passed away on November 14, 1998, in the same city. He was a Doctor of Biological Sciences and a professor at Moscow State University. Rychkov initiated the establishment of the Human Genetics Laboratory at the N.I. Vavilov Institute of General Genetics and conducted extensive research in human genetics, anthropogenetics, and gene geography. He founded the new field of biological anthropology known as 'human population genetics.'
