Yury Petrovich Savelyev is a Soviet and Russian rocket scientist and political figure born on December 6, 1937, in Vladimir. He served as Rector of Voenmeh from 1987 to 2002 and holds a Doctor of Technical Sciences degree since 1976 and a professorship since 1978. Additionally, he was a Deputy in the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg from 2002 to 2003 and a Deputy in the State Duma of the Russian Federation from 2003 to 2007.
