Yury Markovich Varshaver (pseudonym — Yury Shcheglov) was a Russian Soviet writer and journalist born on December 6, 1932, in Kharkiv. He graduated from the philological faculty of Moscow State University in 1957. Varshaver became a member of the Union of Soviet Writers and the Moscow Writers' Union in 1978. He contributed to the editorial team of the Literary Gazette. His works contributed to the literary landscape of the Soviet Union until his passing on January 5, 2006, in Leonikha, Moscow Oblast.
