Yusra al-Barbari (1923-2009) was a Palestinian politician and social feminist leader born in Gaza. She was the first university graduate in Gaza, graduating in 1949. In 2009, she received the Jerusalem Star medal at the fifth conference of the General Union of Palestinian Women. She participated in the first Palestinian delegation to the United Nations and was elected as a member of the first Palestinian conference that led to the establishment of the Palestine Liberation Organization. She was prominent in her opposition to British occupation and advocated for the cancellation of the Balfour Declaration.
