Yusuf Abu Rayya was an Egyptian novelist born on January 2, 1954, in Hihya, Sharqia. He graduated in Journalism from Cairo University in 1977 and later became a significant figure in Egyptian literature. An influential writer of the 1970s, he produced numerous collections of stories and novels over more than 20 years, including 'The High Noon', 'Against the Wind', and 'The White Island'. He won the Naguib Mahfouz Prize for Creativity in 2005 and was honored by Minya University in 2003 for his literary contributions. He passed away on January 12, 2009, due to liver cancer.
