Zachariah Anani is a former member of the Lebanese Islamic militias, specifically the military wing called the 'Fityan Imam Ali'. He converted to Christianity and sought political asylum in Canada in 1996. Born in Beirut, he was raised in a family of Imams, and began fighting at the age of fourteen, committing his first killing during that time. He was influenced by an American missionary that inspired his conversion.
