She was trained by her father Jānis Jansone and had notable partnerships, winning five consecutive Soviet championships in doubles with Olga Morozova during the early 1970s. Jansone reached the fourth round at Wimbledon in 1971 and participated in the 1968 Olympics, securing a bronze in women's doubles and a gold in mixed doubles. She graduated in journalism in 1981, focusing mainly on coaching and establishing her own tennis school.
