He served as the head of the Urząd Ochrony Państwa (Office of State Protection) from 1998 to 2001, then as the head of the Agencja Wywiadu (Intelligence Agency) from 2005 to 2008, and later as the deputy head of the Biuro Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego (National Security Bureau) in 2010. Nowek was born on July 1, 1959, in Bydgoszcz and passed away on June 17, 2019, in Prądki.
