Zbigniew Ryszard Gwiazda was a member of the anti-communist resistance from 1950 to 1952 and a political prisoner during the Stalinist period from 1952 to 1961. He was associated with the Youth Political Prisoners' Union 'Jaworzniacy' since 1993. Gwiazda received several prestigious awards for his contributions to preserving Polish history, his combatant activities, and social work, including the Officer's Cross of the Order of Rebirth of Poland, the Cross of Independence, and others. He was also a two-time member of the Order of Independence Chapter.
