Zdena Mašínová Jr. (born November 7, 1933, in Prague) is the sister of the Mašín brothers and the niece of Ctibor Novák. Her father, General Major Josef Mašín, was involved in the Czechoslovak Legion in Russia. During WWII, he joined the resistance against the Nazi occupation, leading to the family living in fear and suffering. After her father's arrest by the Gestapo, Zdena was raised by her grandmother. Following the escape of her brothers to Berlin in 1953, Zdena faced lifelong persecution by the communist regime.
