Zdeněk Thoma is a Czech photographer, publicist, and traveler, originally trained as a chemist. He is a member of the Association of Professional Photographers, the Syndicate of Journalists of the Czech Republic, and the Writers' Guild. Thoma embarked on a year-long journey to Asia in 1970 and has since spent over seven years across twenty-eight countries, focusing mainly on Japan, China, Tibet, Nepal, India, and the Philippines. His work has resulted in several travel journals and over 160 photographic exhibitions, with particular interest in the cultural history of tea and oriental garden art.
