Ze'ev Almog (Avarotsky) was an Israeli Navy officer born on September 12, 1932, and murdered on October 4, 2003. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was one of the pioneers of the Israeli submarine fleet. He commanded the submarines INS Rahav and INS Leviathan. In his last role as commander of the Red Sea area, he significantly contributed to building landing forces and led the naval operation Mivtza Riviv. After leaving the military, he managed the naval officer school in Akko for 23 years.
