Zeger Andries (1901-1967) was a Belgian declaimer and literature teacher at the Bruges Academy of Fine Arts. In the 1920s, he published stories and poetry and became involved with the arts as the leader of the De Graal choir and editor for De Avant-Garde magazine. During World War II, he collaborated with the DeVlag and was a prominent figure in the regime, earning infamy as 'Blekken Hitler.' He was sentenced to death in 1946, later commuted to life imprisonment, and was released in 1950, leading a quiet life thereafter.
