Zehra İpşiroğlu is a prominent Turkish writer and theater critic born in 1949. She is the daughter of Khadija Nazan and Muzaffer Şevket İpşiroğlu. She completed her secondary education at the Austrian High School and earned her degree in German language, literature, and philosophy from Istanbul University, Freiburg, and Berlin. In 1976, she became a faculty member in the German language and literature department at Istanbul University, where she also established the theater and drama criticism department in 1992 and chaired it until 1998. Since then, she has taught Turkish language education at Duisburg-Essen University in Germany.
