Zekeriya Önge was a Turkish soldier born on April 23, 1960, in Çamoluk, Giresun. On February 2, 1980, he was shot while intervening in an event related to the Halkın Kurtuluşu organization in Ankara. He was severely injured and died en route to the hospital. The attacker, Erdal Eren, who had surrendered, was tried and sentenced to death on March 19, 1980, later executed after the 1980 military coup.
