Zel M. Fischer is an American lawyer and judge serving on the Missouri Supreme Court since 2008. He was chief justice from 2017 to 2019. Born on April 28, 1963, in Watson, he earned his undergraduate degree from William Jewell College and a law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Fischer was elected as Atchison County judge in 2006 and appointed to the Supreme Court by Governor Matt Blunt in 2008. He is known for his strict interpretation of the state's constitution and laws.
