Dawson gained national attention in 2009 due to the publication of her son's book, 'Hiding in the Spotlight', which details her experiences during the Holocaust. In 2022, a middle-grade book about her story, titled 'Alias Anna: A True Story of Outwitting the Nazis', co-authored by Susan Hood and Greg Dawson, was published.
