Zhumabek Akhmetov is a Kazakh general major, born on May 8, 1959, in Guryev. He has served as the head of the military institute of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan since 2006. Akhmetov holds a Doctorate in military sciences and is a professor. He is also the Vice-President of the Academy of Military Sciences and a full member (academician) of the Military Sciences Academy of Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Kazakhstan.
