Elzaphan McConnell 'Zip' Hanna was an American football guard who played for the Washington Redskins. Born on December 1, 1916, he attended Chester and Gaffney High Schools and played college football at the University of South Carolina. After serving in the Navy during WWII, he played semi-pro football before becoming a police chief in Rock Hill and later Aiken, South Carolina. In retirement, he engaged in home building. Hanna passed away on January 18, 2001, at the VA Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.
