Ziyad Samir Jarrah (May 11, 1975 – September 11, 2001) was a member of Al-Qaeda and one of the perpetrators of the September 11 attacks. As a hijacker and pilot of United Airlines Flight 93, he was involved in the coordinated attacks. Jarrah moved to Germany in 1996, where he helped plan the attacks, forming the Hamburg cell with other key figures. He traveled to the U.S. in 2000 for flight training and attempted to take control of Flight 93 to crash it into the U.S. Capitol but was thwarted by passengers.
