Zoya Yaschenko is a singer of the Russian musical group 'Belaya Gvardiya'. Born in Poltava, Ukraine, she grew up there and began writing poetry in the 9th grade, with over 200 poems to her name today. She took guitar lessons in Moscow and has been writing songs since 1982. After finishing school, she worked for three years at a local newspaper. She graduated in Journalism from Moscow University in 1993 and later formed the group 'Belaya Gvardiya' in Moscow.
