Zulmira Ribeiro Tavares was a Brazilian writer born in São Paulo on July 27, 1930. She was the daughter of civil engineer Brenno Tavares and housewife Evangelina Ribeiro Tavares. In 1958, she married designer Antonio Maluf, with whom she had two children and later divorced amicably in the 1970s. Tavares wrote film critiques for several years, was a researcher, and taught a graduate course in cinema at the University of São Paulo. She was also a member of the board of the Cinemateca Brasileira.
