Aarno Assar Kahma (1914-2004) was a Finnish geologist, professor, and innovator in mineral exploration methods. He led the mineral department at the Geological Survey of Finland from 1946 to 1977, discovering numerous mines, most notably the Elijärvi mine. In the 1940s, he co-developed a method for aerial mineral exploration based on electromagnetic induction and eddy currents, which became a revolutionary technique used worldwide. He was awarded the title of professor in 1962 and received the Commander of the Order of the Lion of Finland.
