He was the Chief Rabbi of Morocco and succeeded his father, Rabbi Yedidia Monsonego, in this role in 1994. He studied in both Morocco and France, where he was ordained as a rabbi. Monsonego significantly contributed to Jewish education in Morocco, establishing various schools. He moved to Israel in 2010 due to health issues and died in 2018.
