Abah Anom, born on January 15, 1915, in Tasikmalaya, is a prominent Kiai and the leader of the Suryalaya pesantren. He was educated at Vervolgschool in Ciamis and learned Islamic teachings in various pesantren. He is known for his innovative approach in treating drug addiction through zikir practices, which has helped thousands of youths recover. Under his leadership since 1950, Suryalaya became a major center for the Qodiriyyah Naksabandiyyah tariqat in Indonesia, and it also served as a refuge for notable figures during Indonesia's independence.
