Abha Maiti was an Indian freedom fighter and political activist, born on April 22, 1923, in Kalageshya of the Khejuri police station, East Midnapore district. She was also a journalist, editor for various newspapers, and president and founder of multiple organizations. Due to her political achievements and social contributions, she was referred to as 'Agnikanya' (Daughter of Fire). Both her parents were freedom fighters; her father was Nikunj Bihari Maiti, the first education minister of West Bengal. She remained unmarried throughout her life.
