Affonso Celso Pastore is a Brazilian economist born on June 19, 1938. He served as the president of the Central Bank of Brazil from September 5, 1983, to March 14, 1985, during the presidency of João Baptista Figueiredo. He was also the Minister of Finance of São Paulo from March 1979 to March 1983. Pastore has a significant academic background with bachelor's and doctoral degrees in economics from the University of São Paulo, where he was a professor and department head from 1978 to 1999. He continues to teach postgraduate courses.
