Åke Fritjofsson (1922-2012) was a Swedish urologist born in Sundsvall. He graduated in medicine in 1949 after studying in Uppsala and became a specialist in urology. He earned his doctorate in 1961 with a thesis on renal tuberculosis. Fritjofsson became head of the newly established urology clinic at Regionsjukhuset in Örebro in 1966, and in 1973, he led the urology clinic at Akademiska sjukhuset in Uppsala, where he continued until retirement in 1987.
