He graduated from the Faculty of Letters at Keio University and completed the doctoral program in historical studies at the Graduate School of Letters. Miyazaki has held various academic positions, including lecturer and associate professor at Hokkaido University of Education, as well as assistant and full professor at the Faculty of Business and Commerce at Keio University, where he retired in 2006.
