Akio Morita (January 26, 1921 – October 3, 1999) was a prominent Japanese entrepreneur and co-founder of Sony Corporation. Born in Tokoname, Aichi, he studied physics at Osaka University and served as a naval officer during World War II, where he met his future partner Masaru Ibuka. Together, they founded Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo, which later became Sony, in 1946. Morita advocated for Japan's economic independence and authored the controversial book 'Japan That Can Say No'. He received the Albert Medal in 1982 and passed away at the age of 78 in Tokyo.
