Alain Chany was a French writer born on February 25, 1946, in Paris and passed away on December 2, 2002, in Le Puy-en-Velay. He was the son of Pierre Chany, a prominent journalist. Chany published his first novel, The Order of Dispersion, in 1972, which became a cult book for a generation following May 1968. After a long hiatus from writing, he made a literary comeback with his 1992 work, A Dryness in Paris, which received acclaim and sold over 8,000 copies. His latest collection, Vessies et lanternes, published in 2016, compiled his earlier works.
