Albert Blancafort i París was a Catalan conductor and composer born on April 28, 1928, in La Garriga, Vallès Oriental. He was the son of composer Manuel Blancafort and started his music studies in Barcelona. In 1947, he co-founded the Cercle Manuel de Falla. He continued his studies in Paris where he worked under notable instructors Nadia Boulanger, Sergiu Celibidache, and Igor Markevitch. He directed the Radio Nacional de España chorus and created the choir of Radiotelevisión Española, which he led for 25 years, promoting early European polyphony and Spanish Renaissance music.
