Alfredo Mires Ortiz was a Peruvian anthropologist, educator, writer, and editor, born on February 23, 1961, in Chepén, La Libertad. He co-founded the Rural Libraries Network of Cajamarca in 1971 and published over 130 books on oral tradition, religiosity, Andean culture, rock art, and history. Mires received several awards, including the Casa de la Literatura Peruana Prize in 2021 and the Kukulí National Journalism Prize in 1992. He passed away on October 16, 2022, in Cajamarca.
