Post WWII, he emigrated to the USA, where he contributed significantly to Lithuanian music and culture, forming choral works and directing ensembles. Known for compositions such as 'Honor to You, Lord' and 'The Queen of Love', Šimkus remained active in music and writing throughout his life.
