Ali Bongo Ondimba, born Alain Bernard Bongo on February 9, 1959, is a Gabonese politician who served as the third president of Gabon from 2009 to 2023. He is the son of Omar Bongo, who was president of Gabon from 1967 until his death in 2009. Ali Bongo held various positions including Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defense. He was first elected president in August 2009, following his father's death, and was re-elected in August 2016 amidst numerous allegations of irregularities and human rights violations. Bongo has also been involved in offshore dealings as revealed in the Pandora Papers.
