Alojz Kralj, born on March 12, 1937, in Novi Sad, is a Slovenian engineer and professor at the University of Ljubljana's Faculty of Electrical Engineering. He introduced industrial robotics studies and established a robotics laboratory. Recognized worldwide for his expertise in functional electrical stimulation, Kralj became the first person to achieve standing and simple walking for paraplegics. He served as the 39th rector of the University of Ljubljana from 1995 to 1997 and is a member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the European Academy of Sciences.
