Aly Dioum was a Senegalese journalist and diplomat born on February 6, 1931, in Dahra, Region Louga, and passed away on February 26, 2014, in Dakar. He served as editor of the Senegalese Press Agency and led the Socialist Party's organ, L’Unite. He was later the editor of the daily newspaper Le Soleil and held various leadership roles within the UPS, including General Secretary of its youth organization. Dioum was the first Senegalese ambassador to Beijing and was also accredited in Pyongyang. From 1978 to 1986, he served as ambassador to Morocco.
