He served as an INSA Senior Scientist and was an emeritus faculty member at the Department of Mathematics, IIT Kharagpur until his death. In recognition of his substantial contributions to fluid dynamics and magnetohydrodynamics, especially in the area of heat transfer in free convection flow influenced by magnetic fields, he received the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for mathematical sciences in 1972 from the Government of India.
