Andrej Petrač is a Slovenian cellist born on April 20, 1962, in Maribor. He graduated in 1984 from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, studying under Professor Oton Bajde. In 1985, he received the University Prešeren Award. He furthered his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart with Professor Antonio Janigro. Since 1992, he has been the solo cellist with the Symphony Orchestra of the Slovenian Philharmonic. In 1999, he and the Chamber String Orchestra of the Slovenian Philharmonic received the Prešeren Fund Award.
