Andrew Peter "Andy" Harris is an American politician and physician born on January 25, 1957, in New York City, New York. He has served as the U.S. Representative for Maryland's 1st congressional district since 2011 and is a member of the Republican Party, notably the only Republican in Maryland's congressional delegation. Harris previously served in the Maryland State Senate and is a former officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve, participating as a Lieutenant Commander during Operation Desert Storm. He has also worked as an anesthesiologist and is a faculty member at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
