António José Forte (1931-1988) was a Portuguese poet associated with the surrealist movement and a member of the Café Gelo Group. He worked for over 20 years at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation as a supervisor of mobile libraries. Forte published his first book of poetry in 1958 and was involved with several literary magazines and newspapers. His poetic work presents a unique blend of ideological utopia and surrealism. Notably, he authored children's poetry and left a limited yet profound literary legacy, which is celebrated in many poetic anthologies.
