Arij Kop was a Dutch resistance fighter born on February 28, 1901, in Vlaardingen. He was executed by the German occupiers during World War II and was one of the condemned from the Geuzenprozess. Before the war, Kop worked as a mariner, collector, insurance agent, and magazine deliverer. He joined the Geuzengroep led by Bernardus IJzerdraat. After his arrest on November 21, 1940, he was imprisoned but continued to take notes despite mistreatment. He was ultimately sentenced to death and executed on March 13, 1941, and is commemorated in Jan Campert's poem.
