Bálint Arany was a Hungarian mechanical engineer born on February 28, 1901, in Rinyaújlak. He was a direct descendant of poet Arany János. After graduating from a reform school and obtaining his engineering degree from the Budapest University of Technology in 1925, he played a significant role in promoting ball bearings in Hungary. He was involved in anti-German activities during World War II and was arrested in 1946 for conspiracy against the state. He served a prison sentence but was released in 1956, later published his memoirs in 1990.
